Biography

Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Mahadi Mohamad is a known figure in both the academic and professional sectors, holding a PhD in Crisis Management from Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Industrial Management Engineering from Fachhochschule Braunschweig, Germany. As a distinguished alumnus of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a premier political foundation in Germany, Dr. Mahadi's dedication to sustainability and the circular economy is profound. His expertise is further recognized through an Executive Certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, and a certification as an Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance, a collaborative accolade from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre. He also holds a Master’s in Sustainable Development Management from the Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development at Sunway University.

Between 2009 and 2012, Dr. Mahadi was the Special Officer to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, gaining invaluable insights into governmental operations. He later served as the Chief Executive Officer of Chief Minister Incorporated (MBI) Kedah, where he was instrumental together with government agencies in securing a record Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of RM11.5 billion in 2019—the highest in Kedah's history. His leadership extends to board roles in various Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and a Public Listed Company. Having the exposure of serving the highest political office and corporate sector, Dr. Mahadi gained much sought after valuable experience.

Currently, Dr. Mahadi is the Executive Director of the Green Growth Asia Foundation (GGAF), a prominent NGO championing sustainability and circular economy initiatives. He also holds the position of Director of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Joint Business Council working closely with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he spearheads private sector engagement to explore trade and green investment opportunities across the region.
