Our Vision

What is AAS-in-Asia 2027 all about?

AAS-in-Asia 2027 is the annual conference of the Association for Asian Studies held outside North America. Hosted by Sunway University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Bandar Sunway, Malaysia, the conference brings together hundreds of scholars, researchers, educators and students from across Asia and the world.

The conference provides a premier platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, cross-regional exchange and the advancement of knowledge on Asia's diverse societies, cultures, histories and futures. Sessions span humanities, social sciences, area studies and interdisciplinary fields.

Everything You Need to Know

 

WHO CAN SUBMIT A PROPOSAL?

Any scholar, researcher, educator or student working on topics related to Asia is welcome to submit a proposal. There is no requirement to be an AAS member.

WHAT TYPES OF SESSIONS ARE ACCEPTED?

AAS-in-Asia 2027 accepts panels, roundtables, workshops, special sessions, and individual paper proposals. Poster sessions may also be available.

IS ONLINE PARTICIPATION AVAILABLE?

Hybrid participation options are being considered by the Organising Committee. Details will be announced when the programme is confirmed.

HOW DO I SUBMIT A PROPOSAL?

Proposals are submitted through the official AAS online submission portal. Full guidelines will be published with the call for proposals.

WHEN DOES REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registration is expected to open in March 2027. Early bird rates will be available for a limited period before the main registration deadline.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

The cancellation and refund policy will be published in the registration information. Please review the policy before completing registration.
