Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series
Sunway University is proud to announce the return of the highly acclaimed Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series on the 30th November 2021. To allow as many interested parties from all across the globe to participate, the hugely popular public lecture series returns on this occasion via MS TEAMS and Facebook LIVE. The lecture is free to attend and the world is invited.
This exclusive lecture series features notable speakers from their field of expertise and seeks to provide the wider community with a unique opportunity to listen to outstanding experts speak on a wide variety of topics, providing both a platform for intellectual discourse and lifelong learning.
In the upcoming lecture, Professor Patrick Chinnery, Jeffrey Cheah Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, will be speaking live from the UK on “Mitigating mitochondrial mutational meltdown: or how to prevent the ‘mothers curse’”. He will explain how new biological insights have cast a light on the mechanisms involved and how harnessing this new knowledge presents an exciting opportunity to prevent and treat major human diseases.
