A Musical Tour Around Taiwan - Talk by Amanda Hsieh
This event has passed.
Come along on a musical tour around 1920s’ Taiwan with the famed Japanese tenor, Fujiwara Yoshie, otherwise known as ‘our tenor’ across the Japanese Empire. With plenty of music examples, this talk will paint a vivid picture of Fujiwara’s musical journey while situating it in the broader context of culture and politics. This is a story of rail travels, nostalgic songs and colonial exploitation in the first decades of the twentieth century.
