“Waye Kito” — Wayang Kulit Festival
We are excited to invite you to the “Waye Kito” – Wayang Kulit Kelantan Festival, supported by Arts for All Seasons (ArtsFAS), an annual grant programme powered by Yayasan Hasanah and Ministry of Finance, and organized by Sunway University in partnership with traditional Wayang Kulit Kelantan performers. This two-day festival, set in Bandar Sunway at Sunway University, offers a unique opportunity to experience the magical world of Kelantanese Shadow Puppetry — an art form enriched with tradition and storytelling.
Date: 22nd - 23rd February, 2025
Location: JC1 and Art Gallery, Level 1, Sunway University
Time: 9 am - 4 pm, daily
Festival Highlights:
- Live Performances: Enjoy three different performances from three different troupes each day showcasing unique styles of Wayang Kulit Kelantan from Pasir Mas, Bachok, and Tumpat.
- Workshops & Exhibitions: Learn the art of Wayang Kulit Kelantan puppet-making, participate in traditional musical demonstrations, and experience immersive exhibitions about Malaysian traditions of shadow puppetry.
