Future Cities Conference 2026 (FCC26)
FCC26 Workshop Spotlight: Building Explainable AI for Human-Occupied Spaces
As we gear up for the Future Cities Conference 2026 (FCC26), we are excited to spotlight our upcoming hands-on workshop led by AI researcher and founder Jack Shiels (shiels.ai / University College London).
Workshop: TRUST2 – Building Explainable AI for Human-Occupied Spaces
Drawing from the UKRI-funded TRUST2 project at UCL, this session will explore the architecture behind end-to-end explanatory Large Language Model (LLM) solutions and multi-architecture pipelines that safely manage human-occupied sites. Participants will gain a practical and theoretical understanding of:
- Architectural Frameworks: Combining discrete time-series forecasting algorithms with LLMs to securely manage physical environments.
- System Guardrails: Constraining LLM outputs and mitigating emergent behavioural hallucinations to ensure safe execution.
- Knowledge Graphs: Applying annotated knowledge graphs to combine black-box LLMs with grounded, explainable reasoning traces.
This is a hands-on session where attendees will apply these methods to example data on their laptops and see results in real time.
This workshop is exclusive to registered FCC26 participants.
