Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence

Overview

The BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence at Sunway University offers a distinctive learning experience driven by state-of-the-art facilities, impactful research, and a vibrant academic community. Students benefit from a dedicated AI and Machine Learning Lab equipped with high-performance GPU-powered systems, NVIDIA Jetson Nano, and IoT prototyping kits to support hands-on learning in real-world applications. Uniquely, the programme also provides access to Sunway’s High Performance Computing (HPC) service, powered by cloud-based NVIDIA GPU-accelerated computing on AWS, giving students a competitive edge through hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools and infrastructure.

The programme is led by a team of world-class academics and researchers actively involved in funded research projects in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and smart systems. Students are immersed in a dynamic ecosystem that bridges academic knowledge and industry practice through project-based learning, capstone projects, and internship placements. As part of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, students participate in AI-focused competitions, coding hackathons, innovation challenges, and collaborative projects through Sunway iLabs.

They are also supported by an active AI and Data Science student club, mentoring programmes, and leadership development opportunities. With access to a digitally connected smart campus and strong industry linkages, BSc AI students at Sunway are uniquely positioned to become highly skilled, future-ready AI professionals.

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will also be awarded a degree from Lancaster University. They will be awarded two certificates, making them graduates of both Sunway University and Lancaster University.

Specific Requirements

Credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM or B in Advanced Mathematics in UEC or its equivalent.

Candidates with the following qualifications or their equivalent:

  • STPM (Arts Stream)
  • A-Level
  • Matriculation or Foundation
  • Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4, MQF)

who do not have Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted with a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science, Technology, or Engineering subjects at SPM level or its equivalent.

Candidates need to enrol in and pass a Mathematics Enhancement subject at the beginning of their study.

The following students will be exempted from the English Language requirement: 

Students from countries that use English as the official language; OR 

Students with academic qualifications from institutions that use English as full medium of instruction.
