Master in Advanced Computing

Overview

The Master in Advanced Computing programme provides advanced training and knowledge in key areas of computing. It offers a profound and in-depth education across software engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity, guiding students to design a learning pathway that aligns with their personal interests and future career opportunities.

Students have the flexibility to choose from various track electives, gaining exposure to specialised domains of computing. The programme also supports Malaysia’s national digital transformation agenda, helping to build capabilities for the country as a regional hub for digital innovation and smart technology.

Graduates of this programme will be equipped to:

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO 1 : Computing specialists who can design advanced computing solutions by applying concepts, principles and methodologies as well as quantitative/qualitative information for solving real-world and/or scientific problems.
PEO 2 : Computing specialists who are able to use the latest digital and technological tools and techniques for innovative advanced computing solutions.
PEO 3 : Computing specialists who can communicate effectively and collaborate with various stakeholders in managing various business ventures and projects.
PEO 4 : Computing specialists who are able to continuously contribute to the industry and well-being of the society while upholding ethical conduct, professional practices and issues in maintaining integrity.

Entry Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, as accepted by the Academic Senate; OR
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to internal assessment; OR
  3. A Bachelor’s Degree in a Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to internal assessment to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that are equivalent to the candidate’s working experience in Computing or related fields; OR
  4. A Bachelor’s Degree in a Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to passing appropriate prerequisite courses; OR
  5. Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computing or related fields recognised by the Government of Malaysia must fulfil the following requirement:

(i) CGPA ≥ 2.50; OR

(ii) 2.00 ≤ CGPA < 2.50, subject to internal assessment.

  1. An APEL.A Certification at APEL T-7.

English Requirements (International Students)

  • IELTS or equivalent: 6.0
