FashionFarm Event 2022 - Sunway International Business Society Annual Event
The Elegant Farm Lady made from pre-loved jeans and magazines
Students from Sunway International Business Society organised a sustainable fashion charity event aiming to advocate sustainable fashion, to reduce the production and consumption of fast fashion and promote awareness of climate change among the younger generation. In general, FashionFarm is based on 6 SDG Goals: SDG 1 No Poverty; SDG 4 Quality Education; SDG 8 Decent Work & Economic Growth; SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities; SDG 12 Responsible Production & Consumption; SDG 13 Climate Action.
FashionFarm Event 2022 occurred in two phases; collection drive and event day. The collection drive was held in collaboration with Sunway Student Volunteers. The team aimed to collect monetary donations and pre-loved clothes from the staff and students from Sunway University & College. In result, they have collected over 600 pre-loved clothes and raised over RM600 of monetary donations.
The event was launched by the Dean of Sunway University Business School, Professor Steve Williams, Programme Leader of BSc (Hons) in International Business, Associate Professor Dr Shehnaz Tehseen and Wong Lei Lei, Director of Marketing. The Event Day at Art Gallery was a 2-day walk-in hall exhibition which composed of games, bazaar, up-cycling workshop conducted by Sunway College Student Council (SCC), photoshoot corner, 2 metres-tall Jenga Sculpture, showcase of E-Couture Designs and several engaging information boards. Up to 300 people including staff and students have visited the exhibition.
The event was held successfully with the sponsors from Terrae, MyBurgerLab, Sometime by Asian Designers, and Beyond Coffee.
