Paws Rescuer: Fundraising Booth
In a heart-warming collaboration, our volunteers organised a two-day fundraising event on 17 to 18 October 2024 to support Puss N’ Pooch Safe Retreat (PPSR), an animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and caring for stray animals. PPSR, founded in early 2022 by the dynamic mother-and-son duo Madam Chan and Dr Edwin Sam, currently houses over 100 dogs and 20 cats. The shelter recently faced challenges at its previous location, prompting an urgent move to a new site in Kuala Kubu Baru. The funds raised are essential for ensuring a smooth relocation and continued care for the animals.
The fundraising booth, set up at Sunway College Boulevard, was part of Sunway Student Volunteer’s Paws Rescuer initiative and was incorporated into the Shoebox Project 1.0 Charity Bazaar 1. The event featured a range of activities, including promoting PPSR’s mission and selling handmade crochet items.
SSV’s dedication to supporting PPSR is a testament to the power of collective action in creating meaningful change. The Wildlife Department’s efforts not only raised much-needed funds, but also spread awareness of the vital work being done by the shelter.
