SoA Professor Freeman's talk at IMREC 2024 in Tagatay Philippines
We are excited to share that SoA Professor Bradley Freeman, Program Leader for Creative Arts and Media, delivered a keynote plenary talk at the International Multidisciplinary Research-Based Extension Conference (IMREC) 2024 on October 17, 2024, in Tagaytay, Philippines.
His talk, titled "The Role of Communication in Effective Community Development," explored the impact of both traditional and digital media in supporting community growth and engagement. Professor Freeman highlighted strategies for leveraging media to empower communities, with a focus on generational media use and the rise of social media in fostering inclusive communication.
The event brought together distinguished speakers, including Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, Commissioner of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In an exchange with Professor Freeman, Commissioner Ethel expressed her familiarity with Sunway University and its efforts to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She shared that she had attended an SDG-related event at Sunway University and was impressed by its commitment to addressing global challenges.
