Sunway Student Volunteers Bring Joy to St. Mark's Cozy Home with Creativity and Connection
On 18 October 2024, a dedicated group of Sunway Student Volunteers spent a meaningful day with local elders with an aim to bring joy and companionship through engaging activities. Bringing along an assortment of colouring materials such as colour pencils and creative paper designs, the volunteers created a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring a positive and uplifting experience for all.
As the elders began to colour, conversations flowed naturally and laughter filled the room, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and shared joy. The simple act of colouring brought back memories for many and offered a comforting creative outlet that everyone could enjoy.
The volunteers also played an interactive game with the elderly that encouraged light exercises and engaged both the mind and body. Laughter and excitement filled the space as the elders and volunteers participated in the friendly competitions, bonding over the lighthearted fun.
As the day ended, the group gathered for a final photo to capture the warmth of the experience. The volunteers were left inspired by the elders’ resilience and joy, grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference. This day reminded everyone involved of the power of connection and the lasting impact of kindness, leaving behind not just memories but a renewed sense of community.
Through their efforts, the volunteers brightened the elders’ day, proving that even small acts of companionship can create a profound impact.
