Adjunct Associate Professor Dr Murallitharan Munisamy Wins World No Tobacco Day Award 2025!

Sunway University is proud to share that Adjunct Associate Professor Dr Murallitharan Munisamy, a valued member of our academic community at the Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences, has been honoured with the World No Tobacco Day Award 2025 by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the World Health Assembly!

This prestigious recognition was jointly awarded to YB Datuk Seri Dr Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia and Dr Noraryana Hassan, Deputy Director, Non-Communicable Diseases Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia

This award celebrates their collaborative leadership in advancing tobacco control efforts in Malaysia, particularly their pivotal role in successfully enforcing the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).

Dr Murallitharan Munisamy's unwavering commitment to public health advocacy and tobacco harm reduction continues to make a significant impact. His recognition reflects the power of science-informed policy and community leadership in safeguarding health, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
