Sunway Business School recently hosted the Climate Literacy Training — a three-part programme developed to strengthen climate knowledge and action among academic professionals on 18 June 2025.

Delivered by certified trainers Assoc. Prof. Stephen Thomas Homer, Dr Marc Weissmann, and Dr Cindy Chuah, this initiative is grounded in the Carbon Literacy for Academics framework by the Carbon Literacy Project.

Designed specifically for educators, the training focused on:

  1. Understanding the Carbon Cycle – Examining how human activities influence carbon flows and climate change.
  2. Applying Individual Actions – Identifying personal strategies to reduce one’s carbon footprint in academic and daily life.
  3. Creating Institutional Impact – Evaluating Sunway University's current initiatives and proposing collaborative action plans for carbon reduction.

This timely workshop equips participants to lead by example and embed climate-conscious practices into teaching, research, and community engagement, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We thank all participants for their dedication to creating a more climate-resilient academic community.
