Dialogue at Goyang: Bridging Generations in Business Events

At Goyang Destination Week 2025, the session “Dialogue: Bridging Generations: Unlocking the Power of Cross-Generational Collaboration” brought together industry leaders and emerging professionals to explore how generational dynamics shape the MICE sector.

Moderated by Mike Williams, the discussion celebrated the achievements of young leaders, including Kenrich S. from Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur and Ezza Ramli, CEM from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, both first prize winners in the Asia-Pacific Business Events Youth Challenge 2025. Their contributions underscored the importance of empowering younger generations through meaningful work and supportive leadership.

Workplace dynamics were a central theme, with panelists addressing hierarchical structures in Asian organisations and the role of mid-level Millennials as strategic intermediaries. Ezza shared her experiences as a Gen Z professional, contrasting traditional client-handling methods with her generation’s direct approach. Misconceptions about job loyalty and work-life balance were examined, with younger professionals advocating for flexibility and older generations emphasising commitment.

The dialogue was a timely reminder that bridging generations is not just about managing differences but about harnessing diverse strengths to build a more inclusive and future-ready business events industry.
