Doing Well by Doing Good: Senegal Students Explore Sunway’s Sustainable Campus

The International Office and the Centre for Global Engagement and Mobility, with the support of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University were proud to welcome a group of talented, inquisitive, and motivated postgraduate students from Senegal who visited Sunway University today.

During their campus tour, the students were shown how sustainability is deeply embedded in Sunway’s DNA — not only as a policy but as a way of life. From our zero single-use plastic policy, recycling initiatives, and hydration stations that reduce plastic bottle usage, to how our academic programmes and student projects are driven by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability is at the heart of what we do.

They also learned about Sunway University’s commitment to creating positive social impact through our engagement with the Desa Mentari community, where initiatives on job creation and value-added outcomes guide our efforts toward inclusive growth.

We hope the key takeaway from their visit is to be inspired to “Do Well by Doing Good,” just like a true Sunwayian — to be changemakers who use their professional training to make a meaningful difference for the environment through sustainability for the communities around them.
