Executive Education Program Delivery
What does it take to drive real innovation in Malaysia’s public service?
That question shaped every step of a week-long Innovation Leadership programme for Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) Malaysia, a collaborative effort between Sunway Business School and the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), from 22 to 27 June 2025 at Sunway Big Box Hotel, Johor.
Held under the theme “Driving Creativity and Innovation for Excellence in the Malaysian Public Service,” the programme brought together public sector leaders from various ministries for an intensive, hands-on learning journey.
From building creative confidence and mastering productivity tools to applying human-centred design for real-world solutions, participants demonstrated outstanding energy, curiosity, and collaboration throughout.
Highlights included:
- Edward de Bono’s creativity strategies and a 30-day innovation challenge
- Empathy mapping and rapid prototyping
- Stakeholder mapping and network mobilisation
- Innovation DNA profiling and personalised playbooks
- Learning visits with leaders like Adam Brimo (CEO, OpenLearning Limited (ASX:OLL), Shaik Faizul (Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA)), and Marsha Tan-Benjamin (42 Malaysia)
Big thanks to our facilitators Dr Adams Adeiza and Danial Rahman, guest trainers Dr Jesrina Ann Xavier, Daniel David, Eizaz Azhar, and Hairul Anuar. We also extend our appreciation to the dedicated teams at SBS and ASLI for making this programme a success.
The journey does not end here. Our participants will now lead step-down sessions, peer coaching pods, and regular action check-ins to implement the innovations sparked during the programme.
Here’s to building a public service that is creative, collaborative, and citizen focused.
