Exploring Sociocultural Insights Through International Collaboration: Otsuma Women's University's Enriching Exchange at Sunway University
From the 16th of August to the 7th of September 2025, Sunway University welcomed a group of 12 students and 1 accompanying lecturer from Otsuma Women's University, Japan as part of a dynamic student exchange programme.
The group participated in the “Sociocultural Determinants of Wellbeing and Sustainability” short course, a multidisciplinary and immersive experience exploring how culture and community shape health and sustainable living in Southeast Asia.

Throughout the three-week programme, participants:
- Attended seminars on psychological health, biological sciences, and women’s issues
- Engaged in cultural activities such as batik painting and traditional dance (RENTaK!)
- Visited welfare and wellness agencies including the Malaysian Mental Health Association, Women’s Aid Organisation, and SEED Foundation
- Built cross-cultural friendships through student and faculty exchanges
