Faculty Meeting #8 – 2025

The Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences (FMLS), Sunway University, convened its eighth Faculty Meeting of the year to present key faculty-wide updates, celebrate milestones, and outline forthcoming initiatives.

 

 

The session commenced with an address by Prof. Dr. Raja Affendi Raja Ali, Dean of FMLS, who provided an inspiring overview of the faculty’s collective achievements, including:

 

 

  1. Placement in the Top 10% of publications

  2. Staff recognitions and promotions

  3. New academic appointments

  4. Research grant awards

  5. Recent seminars, events, and talks under the faculty umbrella

Each Deputy Dean subsequently presented significant updates within their respective portfolios:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr Chew Jactty – Education

  • Prof. Long Chiau Ming – Research & Sustainability

  • Prof. Vetriselvan Subramaniyan – Internationalisation

  • Prof. Kavita Reginald – Employability & Alumni

 

Further updates were delivered by:

  • Prof. Bey Hing Goh, Head of the Sunway Biofunctional Molecules Discovery Centre (SBMDC)

     

 

  • Prof. Teck Yew Low, Head of the Sunway Microbiome Centre (SUMC)

     

 

The meeting concluded with the introduction of the Sunway Academic Staff Association (SASA) by Ms. Kunchiram Rathabai and Ms. Suleygha Ashley Greig, an initiative dedicated to supporting staff welfare and fostering constructive academic dialogue within the university community.
