SBS ECR Seminar Series: Stories from a Professor and an Early Career Researcher
Sunway Business School and the Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) jointly organized an inspiring sharing session titled “Developing a Programme of Research: Stories from a Professor and an Early Career Researcher” on 28 October 2025.
The event brought together academic staff and researchers to reflect on how to build a meaningful and sustainable research journey.
We were honoured to host Professor Jan Bebbington, The Rubin Chair in Sustainability in Business and Director of the Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business, Lancaster University (UK), and Dr Neytullah Ciftci, Research Associate in Business and Biodiversity from the same centre.
Professor Jan Bebbington shared her extensive expertise in sustainability research, addressing topics such as greenwashing, green hushing, carbon credits, ESG issues, and biodiversity accounting. Her insights highlighted how research can drive responsible business practices and policy development.
Dr Neytullah Ciftci discussed his transition from corporate finance to biodiversity accounting, sharing lessons on pre-study preparation, data access, TNFD frameworks, and adopting an ecosystem mindset to enhance research quality and impact.
The session inspired early career researchers to refine their research identity, build collaborations, and pursue impactful sustainability-focused studies.
