Shaping Industry-Ready Education: Sunway University at AppliedHE Xchange 2025
Sunway University’s President, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, recently represented the University at the AppliedHE Xchange: UNS @ Bali 2025, held from February 23 to 25, 2025, at the InterContinental Bali Resort, Jimbaran Bay, Indonesia.
As a distinguished panellist in the discussion "Rankings & Ratings for Industry-Relevant Skills," Professor Poppema shared his insights on the role of rankings and ratings in shaping education that meets industry needs. The conference, co-hosted by Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), brought together thought leaders, educators, and policymakers from across Asia and beyond to discuss strategies for fostering sustainable and industry-aligned education.
In addition to his panel participation, Professor Poppema delivered the closing keynote address titled "Knowledge, Skills, Values, and Mindset: How These Relate to Market Needs and Employability, and How They Can Result in Better Ratings and Rankings." His speech emphasised the critical connection between a well-rounded education and employability, reinforcing Sunway University’s commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance.
