Sunway Psychology & Counselling Centre Hosts Inaugural Collaborative Event on School Refusal
On the 21st May 2025, the Sunway Psychology and Counselling Centre marked a significant milestone by hosting its first official event, in collaboration with Sunway Student LIFE’s Counselling and Wellness Department.
The event, titled “From a Systemic Perspective: A Case of School Refusal – Discussion and Insights from a Family Therapist,” featured distinguished guest speaker Mr. David Hong, Family Therapist from the Andolfi Family Therapy Centre.
Focusing on the complex issue of school refusal, the session explored the topic through the lens of systemic and family therapy, underscoring the critical role of family dynamics in understanding and addressing psychological challenges. Attendees were engaged through a comprehensive case presentation, followed by a stimulating lecture and interactive discussion session.
The event welcomed a diverse audience of Masters of Counselling students, mental health practitioners, and academicians, fostering a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and professional learning.
The Sunway Psychology and Counselling Centre expressed its appreciation to all participants for their enthusiastic support and contributions.
