Sunway University Media Day
The inaugural Sunway University Media Day took place on campus on 12th June 2025, starting with over 25 key leading media figures representing 16 brands taking up the exclusive invitation to take a peek behind the curtain of university life and take a seat in the boardroom.
Led by Sunway University President & Vice Chancellor, Professor Sibrand Poppema, the media team enjoyed an impressive overview and insight into Sunway University and the upcoming plans.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research & Sustainability) Professor Mahendhiran Sanggaran Nair, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education, Employability & Alumni) Professor Chai Lay Ching, also explained heartwarming insights in the Desa Mentari Project and the exciting plans for student graduate employability moving forward.
In addition, the media were also treated to two unique academic experiences.
Associate Professor Dr Daniel Chong Ka Leong of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management delivered a breathtaking blind coffee tasting experience, whilst Dr Fiona Wong from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences created a charming colourful batik painting class for the media guests to take part in.
The Media Day culminated in an exquisite lunch curated by Professor Patrick Siau at the Rooftop Terrace, to the backdrop of music provided by the Sunway University Ensemble quartet.
The day ended, as all university experiences do, with Professor Sibrandes Poppema 'graduating' our media friends in recognition of their support throughout the event.
