Sunway University Receives Groundbreaking Grant For Planetary Health
Sunway University and Fondation Hoffmann have signed a transformative grant agreement at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to address Southeast Asia’s growing planetary health challenges.
The collaboration, which marks the Fondation Hoffmann’s first grant in the ASEAN region, focuses on three key areas:
- Training Journalists and Media Influencers: Enhancing media’s capacity to report on the planetary crisis and its effects on public health.
- Addressing Governance Gaps: Strengthening policies with a focus on planetary health at global, regional, and national levels.
- Business Transformation: Developing new approaches to help businesses understand their operations’ impact on planetary health.
André Hoffmann, President of Fondation Hoffmann, expressed,

Professor Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Executive Director of the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, highlighted, “Through our partnership with Fondation Hoffmann, we aim to build regional capacity, foster innovative solutions, and inspire action across Southeast Asia.”
