Building Sustainability Competence – Program Highlights
Sunway Business School staff and students came together for an inspiring workshop- 'Building Sustainability Competence: Knowledge, Skills and Impact'- that truly reshaped how we think about sustainability in both the workplace and the wider community.
From the opening keynote on The Sustainability Imperative to the hands-on SDG Challenge Sprint, participants engaged in interactive discussions, problem-solving exercises, and reflective activities that brought the UN Sustainable Development Goals to life.
The most impactful moment came during the Policy Crafting workshop, where participants debated pressing issues like climate action, inequality, and responsible consumption and structured pressing issues into meaningful, impactful and culture building policies. These policy labs not only deepened our understanding of sustainability governance but also showcased how policy frameworks can drive meaningful change beyond 2030.
Feedback from staff and students was overwhelmingly positive — many described the workshop as enlightening, interactive, and eye-opening, especially in exploring the intricacies of using policy to embed sustainability into everyday practice. A big thank you to our trainer and facilitator Dr. Marc Weissmann from our very own Yunus Social Business Centre at Sunway for delivering the workshop.
We’re proud to see our community embracing sustainability not just as a concept, but as a shared responsibility and actionable pathway forward.
