Congratulations to Lim Xiao Syuen on Winning Outstanding Innovation Award at WOU INNOVATEX 2026

Please join us in congratulating our Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainability Science and Technology student — Lim Xiao Syuen — for being awarded the Silver Award for Outstanding Innovation at Wawasan Open University (WOU) INNOVATEX 2026 Grand Finale, which took place on 27 June 2026 at WOU, Penang, Malaysia.

WOU INNOVATEX 2026 is an international STEAM innovation competition that brought together students, academic staff, professionals, and researchers from around the world to showcase innovative ideas, research, and practical solutions across STEAM disciplines. Xiao Syuen’s award-winning innovation, titled "Designing Stable and Renewable Quasi-PAO Lubricants from Vegetable Oils," demonstrated a novel and innovative approach to designing superior lubricants from inexpensive raw materials and was very well received by the judges at the event.

Xiao Syuen was mentored by Professor Nishanth Chemmangattuvalappil and Assoc Prof Ir. Dr. Ng Lik Yin from the School of Engineering.
