Congratulations to Prof. Ir. Rosdiadee Nordin and the Team have successfully secured funding from then Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).

Researchers from the Future Cities Research Institute (FCRI) at Sunway University, led by Prof. Ir. Rosdiadee Nordin, together with the research team from Kuwait University, have secured funding from Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) to develop an intelligent, AI-powered visual early-warning system for haze and dust storms in Malaysia and Kuwait.

This collaboration is particularly timely, as air quality across Malaysia has deteriorated in late September 2026, with more than 20 monitoring stations recording “Unhealthy” Air Pollutant Index (API) levels, highlighting the urgent need for effective early-warning and response systems for transboundary haze.

Congratulations once again to Prof. Ir. Rosdiadee Nordin and the research team on this remarkable achievement and impactful international collaboration.
