Congratulations to Sunway University FET and SBS Students on Winning the Best User-Centric Solution at the UM DeepTech Competition 2026

Congratulations to Ethan Law Xianzheng and Gan Jayci from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, together with Ooi Xiao Qing and Woo Xin Thung from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Finance, Sunway Business School, for winning the Best User-Centric Solution Award at the UM DeepTech Competition 2026.

Competing against 55 teams, Team Sunway Kaki emerged proudly with this achievement.
Their project, Palmara, integrates 3D LiDAR scanning technology with AI to detect early symptoms of Basal Stem Rot in oil palm trees. By enabling timely detection and intervention, while focusing on practical usability and reducing financial losses for plantation companies, Palmara stood out as a highly impactful and user-focused solution to a real-world industry challenge.
