Congratulations to Usman Idris Isma'il, our Doctor of Philosophy (Computing) researcher, on receiving the Best Paper Award (Student Category) at the 4th IEEE International Conference on Agrosystem Engineering, Technology & Application (AGRETA 2026), held on 10 October 2026.

The award-winning paper, titled "Vision-Based Transformer for Riced Leaf Disease Classification Using Multi- Region and Mutli-Session Imagery," presents an innovative artificial intelligence approach to enhancing the accuracy and reliability of rice leaf disease classification. This research contributes to the development of smart agricultural technologies that can support early disease detection and improve crop management practices.

Supervised by Prof. Chua Hui Na and Prof. Ir. Rosdiadee Nordin, this achievement reflects the high quality of research being conducted at Sunway University and demonstrates the potential of AI-driven solutions to address real-world challenges in agriculture. The work highlights how advanced computing technologies can help improve crop health, increase agricultural productivity, and strengthen global food security.
