Experiential Learning in Action: SHTM Students Support “Her Day” Event
In conjunction with International Women’s Day 2026, 33 students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management’s Diploma in Hotel Management programme had the opportunity to be part of Her Day, a networking and pampering event for women in corporate, marketing, and business.
Organised by Woots! Event in collaboration with SHTM, the initiative provided our students with valuable hands-on experience in real-world event planning. Under the guidance of the Woots! team, students were involved throughout the entire process — from pitching ideas and developing concepts to coordinating roles across programme management, logistics, photography, guest experience, and more during the event itself.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Woots! Event team for their partnership and for generously mentoring our students throughout the process. Their patience, guidance, and industry insights made this a truly meaningful learning experience. We would also like to thank Dr Karen Lui, Head of the Department of Hospitality and Events at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management for joining us and her inspiring speech on that day.
At SHTM, we believe that strong industry collaboration plays an important role in shaping capable and adaptable future professionals, and we are grateful for opportunities like this that allow our students to learn beyond the classroom and gain first-hand experience in the dynamic world of events.
