Orientation X: Experiencing Hospitality in Action

Our new students from the January 2026 intake at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management recently took part in Orientation X, our educational visit programme designed to give our new students an early preview into the hospitality industry.

This semester, the visits were organised across two dedicated trips to Sunway Resort Hotel, allowing our students to explore the operations of a leading hotel from perspectives relevant to their fields of study. The visits began with welcoming remarks by Executive Chef Tslee 318 Peter lee and L&D Manager Ms Siamala Doraji, who shared valuable insights about the hospitality industry and the hotel’s operations. Students then toured key facilities including the main kitchens, restaurants, and guest rooms, gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day workings of the hotel.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Wong Yun Yi and the team at Sunway Resort Hotel for their warm hospitality and continued support of our student learning initiatives. As the visit took place during the month of Ramadan, the hotel team thoughtfully prepared packed refreshments for our students to bring home, demonstrating remarkable care and consideration.

At SHTM, we believe meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. Through initiatives like Orientation X, our students gain early exposure to the industry, helping them better understand the professional environments they will one day be part of.
