Sunway University’s senior leadership recently joined a high-level Sunway Group delegation to Indonesia, led by Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO, to forge strategic regional partnerships.
Also attending the three-day visit were Sunway University's President, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, and Provost, Professor Abhimanyu Veerakumarasivam, as well as Sunway Education Group CEO Dato’ Elizabeth Lee. The agenda was anchored by Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah’s keynote address at the Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with two of Indonesia’s most influential conglomerates, Lippo Group and Sinar Mas Group. The University leadership toured local educational campuses and exchanged perspectives on integrated township development, education, and digital infrastructure.
Highlighting the strength of the broader Sunway ecosystem, the delegation also visited Siloam Hospital and the Mochtar Riady Comprehensive Cancer Centre to discuss healthcare excellence and cross-border collaboration.
The trip concluded with an appreciation dinner recognizing Sunway’s Indonesian partners. With Indonesian patients now forming the largest share of Sunway Healthcare’s international patient base, the visit underscored the region's strong, continued confidence in the Group's integrated network of education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
