A Taste of Knowledge: SHTM Debuts Brown Bag Series with Cheese Masterclass
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) at Sunway University recently debuted its new "Brown Bag Series," kicking off with a sophisticated Cheese Fundamentals Workshop. The session was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joaquim Dias Soeiro, a distinguished certified Academy of Cheese Associate.
Attended by 20 staff members, the workshop offered an insightful exploration into the world of artisanal cheese. Participants were introduced to seven distinct varieties, each representing unique regional characteristics and production methods. The session seamlessly blended theory with practice; attendees first explored the fundamentals of cheese-making and composition, before engaging in a guided sensory evaluation to analyze the texture, aroma, and flavor profiles of each selection.
This initiative underscores SHTM’s ongoing dedication to professional development and the cultivation of industry-relevant expertise within its academic community. By providing this relaxed and flexible learning platform, the school encourages staff to engage, share knowledge, and explore diverse topics, setting the stage for a successful and enriching series of future sessions.
