Overview
The Sunway Centre for Environmental Social Governance (SC ESG), formerly known as the Centre for Accountability and Governance Research, marks an evolution in our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) research and capacity building initiatives. Originally established within the Sunway Business School in April 2019, under the leadership of our inaugural director, Professor Susela Devi K. Suppiah, the Centre underwent a strategic rebranding in June 2023 as a testament to our evolving mission and focus areas.
SC ESG's primary objective is to transform cutting-edge academic research into tangible solutions that not only benefit society and government but also advance sustainable practices, with a special emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance factors.
Further, SC ESG aims to foster closer industry-academic collaboration by providing a vibrant platform where industry partners can engage with our researchers and students. This synergistic relationship serves a dual purpose - it enhances student integration and employability while ensuring that our research is directly relevant and applicable to industry challenges.
SC ESG complements Sunway Business School's mission by promoting ESG research, engagement, and education. We actively facilitate academic involvement in ESG-related issues through a range of initiatives such as workshops, training programs, consultations, and cutting-edge research.
Our long-term vision is to support the Business School's strategic objectives in sustainability, analytics, and technology education and research. To this end, we're integrating technology and analytics, particularly Artificial Intelligence, into our research methodologies. This integration ensures that our research remains at the forefront of the evolving business landscape, producing reliable and relevant insights that serve society, government, and industry.
