Design inclusive early childhood learning for diverse needs and abilities

Young children do not all access, communicate or learn in the same way. The Bachelor in Early Childhood Education with Special Needs (Honours) develops deeper professional capability to respond to that diversity while retaining early childhood education as its core discipline. Students study child development, early childhood pedagogy and curriculum alongside special and inclusive education, differentiated instruction, inclusive play, sensory, physical and learning disabilities, giftedness, behaviour and self-regulation, family partnership and assistive technology.

The degree adds analytical depth through observation and evaluation, educational research, data analysis and research projects. Students consider when assistive, digital and AI tools are appropriate, and how inclusive principles apply across education, play, enrichment and community settings. Practicum in nursery and kindergarten settings, together with professional experience in inclusive settings, connects evidence with practice. Graduates are prepared for early childhood and learning-support roles, with the analytical and professional base for curriculum, inclusion, programme improvement and leadership responsibilities as their experience develops.
