An intensivist and pulmonary physician, Dr. Maria Guevara is the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF, also known as Doctors Without Borders) International Medical Secretary based in Geneva, Switzerland since February 2021. Previously as Global Health Advisor at MSF Switzerland, she led the integration of Planetary Health as an operational strategic thematic. Since 2004, her humanitarian field work has spanned across countries in Africa, Americas, and Asia in both emergency and stable settings. She has also served as MSF’s Regional Representative in Asia from 2012 to 2017 and has been part of various advisory groups in WHO and other institutions. Her specific interests are Emergency Response, Health Security and Planetary Health.
