About the Festival

The ArtBeats festival is a cross-cultural celebration of creativity co-hosted by LancasterUniversity (UK) and Sunway University (Malaysia). Now in its third edition, ArtBeats 2025 continues to build cultural bridges through artistic expression, innovation, and community.

After successful festivals in Sunway University, Malaysia (2023) and Lancaster University, UK (2024), ArtBeats 2025 returns with a renewed energy and an impactful theme, GenWaves! Embracing the waves of different generations and connecting it into one, ArtBeats has its ways encompassing it.

As always, the festival features the signature international filmmaking workshop, where students from Sunway University and Lancaster University come together for a one-week film creation bootcamp, mentored by professional directors. Their films are then screened during the festival, showcasing stories shaped by global friendships and real-time collaboration.

This year, ArtBeats 2025: GenWaves is going to hit the stage at Sunway University with an exciting concert and performances. From the premier of this year's short film workshop at the finale concert, to powerful theatrical acts, high-energy dance performances, and nostalgic live band sets, the festival promises a full spectrum of talent. There will be a Movie Screening holding to showcase the short films created during the filmmaking workshop. The event will offer a cozy, cinema-style atmosphere for audiences to enjoy the storytelling efforts of their peers.
