School of Hospitality Wins the Bid to Host the APacCHRIE Conference 2022
The School of Hospitality is delighted to announce that it will host the APacCHRIE Conference in 2022. APacCHRIE or the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education is a leading not-for-profit professional association, which provides programmes and services to continuously uplift the quality of global education, research, service and business operations in the hospitality and tourism industry. The APacCHRIE annual conference brings together hospitality and tourism educators, and students to interact, discuss and exchange thoughts and ideas in hospitality-related fields.
The APacCHRIE Conference 2022 will be one of the most-looked-forward-to events by Sunway University and leading hospitality schools in the Asia Pacific region. The School of Hospitality will be hosting this event via a hybrid mode, leveraging on Sunway University’s expertise in information technology. In addition, this conference will embrace a multidisciplinary approach with the theme “Creating Tourism Sustainably in Challenging Times”. This will be a great opportunity for the School of Hospitality and Sunway University to showcase its forte in hospitality and tourism research, aligned to the establishment and development of the School’s Asia Pacific Centre for Hospitality and Research (APCHR).
“Creating Tourism Sustainably in Challenging Times” is indeed an apt theme to the conference. It will not only address concerns associated with tourism and hospitality during the pandemic but also other macro challenges affecting the service industry. These include the political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, managerial, legal, ideological, environmental, and ecological dimensions.
The Dean of the School of Hospitality, Prof Marcus Stephenson commented, “It is an absolute delight that the School of Hospitality at Sunway University will be hosting such a prominent conference. The School will work together with internal and external stakeholders to make this conference a real success. Hosting this programme in a dual mode is something we will develop, especially to cater for a wider audience. All of us at the School of Hospitality is looking forward to ensuring a fruitful time of sharing, learning, and networking”.
