SafeSpark Initiative: Promoting Fire Safety in Desa Mentari

On 19 July, the SafeSpark initiative was launched in the high-risk flats of Desa Mentari. Organised by Sunway Desa Mentari Community Development Programme (SDMCDP) as part of a student-led effort under the Community Service for Planetary Health, the programme was in collaboration with Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Jalan Penchala, PJ Lestari, and Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Event Highlights:

  • Educational fun booth activities organised by SBS and SHTM students

  • Briefing and demonstrations by Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Balai Jalan Penchala

  • Colouring contest for children

The initiative enabled students and the SDMCDP team to raise awareness, develop practical solutions, and make a positive impact in the community. 

SafeSpark demonstrates how education, community engagement, and partnerships can empower communities and promote a safer, more sustainable future.
