Building New Connections with Nagoya Gakuin University, Japan
Sunway University was delighted to welcome Mr Yasunori Shibata and Dr Roger from Nagoya Gakuin University to our campus.
During the visit, Dr Nicholas Lee, Director of the Centre for English Language Studies (CELS), provided a comprehensive introduction to Sunway’s English language and study-abroad programmes. He explained how the programmes combine classroom learning with opportunities to experience Malaysia’s multicultural environment, while helping students strengthen their English communication skills, confidence and intercultural understanding.
The delegates we introduced to Professor Lay Ching Chai, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education, Employability and Alumni); Professor Weng Marc Lim, Dean of Sunway Business School; and Professor Mayco Santaella, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, to explore potential areas of collaboration.
The visit concluded with a campus tour, during which the delegates experienced Sunway’s modern learning facilities and vibrant campus environment, including the new Sunway Square campus. They also walked along the covered Canopy Walk, which conveniently connects the university to student residences, Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Medical Centre and other amenities. This safe, welcoming and well-connected environment offers international students the convenience and support they need to feel at home while studying in Malaysia.
We look forward to further exploring opportunities to develop and create meaningful two-way mobility and learning experiences for our students and academic staff.
