Freshmen Fiesta 2.0: Golden Grove
To welcome the April 2026 intake, the Sunway University Student Council (SUSC) hosted Freshman Fiesta 2.0 on 30th April 2026, welcoming 124 freshmen from diverse backgrounds. The event, themed “Golden Grove: From Scattered Seeds to a Golden Forest,” symbolised individual students coming together to grow into a strong and vibrant community. With a warm, forest and sunset-inspired setting, the fiesta created a welcoming environment for freshmen to connect, build friendships, and begin their university journey at Sunway.
Upon arrival, freshmen were welcomed by SUSC members and received snack-filled welcome packs and welcome cards containing QR codes to useful freshman resources, such as the Fresher Package, to help them familiarise themselves with campus life. The event then began with opening remarks and ice-breaking sessions such as Human Bingo and This or That, followed by exciting games including Silent Ordering, Group Pose Challenge and Trivia Games. Throughout the activities, SUSC members actively participated alongside the freshmen, allowing everyone to blend in naturally while encouraging teamwork, communication, and new friendships.
The celebration concluded with snacks and drinks followed by a campfire-inspired karaoke session, creating a relaxed and memorable atmosphere for everyone to unwind and enjoy the evening together. The event ended with a group photo and closing remarks, commemorating the beginning of the freshmen’s university journey. Freshman Fiesta 2.0 was more than a welcome event; it brought freshmen and Student Council members together, turning scattered seeds into a growing and connected Golden Grove within the Sunway community.
