ISR Financial Wellness Workshop: Building Strong Habits, Establishing Stronger Futures

The International Student Relations Department of the Sunway University Student Council (SUSC) held the first ever Financial Wellness Workshop catered specifically for International Students. This initiative aimed to equip and empower students with proper financial tips and tools to navigate financial wellness during their stay in Malaysia.

The event began with a welcome remark to the guests and speakers by the emcee following a group photo of all the attendees and the speakers together. In collaboration with Maybank, the SUSC general helpers team helped gather the banners & buntings from both SUSC & Maybank for the group photo.

The workshop featured two representatives from Maybank; Mr Syahmi and Ms Nuranis who delivered an engaging talk in a two part sequence. The first part was an intensive dive into scam awareness informing students about common scams that happen in Malaysia and the second part involved an introduction and breakdown of different financial tools Maybank offers like the MAE app, Tabung (Digital Saving tool) and Investment opportunities at Maybank, leaving students with more variety of tools for financial management in Malaysia.

The talk session transitioned into an interactive Q&A, where students actively engaged with the speakers. To encourage participation, a slido platform was made available for those who preferred to submit questions anonymously. The level of engagement was high, with more questions than time allowed.

Following the Q&A session, Tokens of Appreciation were presented to the speakers by the SUSC Director of International Student Relations. The segment ended with a group picture and a gratitude to the speakers for their contributions. The event concluded with a networking session, where students had the opportunity to interact with the speakers over refreshments in a relaxed setting.
