The Sunway Desa Mentari Community Development Programme (SDMCDP) collaborated with TikTok Shop Malaysia to facilitate the participation of 28 Desa Mentari residents in Pesta JomLokal 2026, held at The Campus, Ampang, on 30 June 2026.

Organised by TikTok Shop Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), the event celebrated Malaysian entrepreneurs while encouraging consumers to support locally made products through the digital marketplace. The festival featured a variety of local brands, interactive booths, promotional activities, and community engagement initiatives designed to increase awareness of affordable local products and digital shopping opportunities.

Through its established community network, SDMCDP coordinated the participation of 28 residents from Desa Mentari, providing them with the opportunity to experience the event beyond the official launch ceremony. Participants explored exhibition booths, interacted with local entrepreneurs, took part in engaging activities, and discovered how digital platforms such as TikTok Shop can make locally produced goods more accessible and affordable. The experience also introduced participants to initiatives that promote support for Malaysian businesses while helping consumers make informed purchasing decisions.

As part of the programme, each participant received grocery items worth RM150, providing immediate assistance to their households while complementing the overall learning and engagement experience offered throughout the event.

The collaboration reflects SDMCDP's ongoing commitment to connecting the Desa Mentari community with meaningful opportunities through strategic partnerships with government agencies, industry partners, and community organisations. Beyond providing access to community programmes, these collaborations expose residents to new knowledge, practical resources, and initiatives that contribute to their social and economic well-being.

SDMCDP remains committed to fostering partnerships that empower communities through learning, meaningful engagement, and improved access to opportunities that support more inclusive and sustainable community development.
