Overview
Established in 2017, the BSc (Hons) Actuarial Studies programme has produced more than 1,200 graduates to date, according to Talentbank Malaysia. The programme combines mathematics, statistics, finance, and risk management to prepare students for careers in actuarial science, insurance, risk management, and the wider financial services industry.
Students develop strong analytical and quantitative skills while building a solid foundation for professional actuarial examinations. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue internationally recognised qualifications offered by leading actuarial bodies, including the Society of Actuaries (SOA), Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA), and Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), leading to globally recognised professional designations and career opportunities.

Actuarial Practice Course (APC)
Actuarial Practice Course (APC) is conducted by our in-house actuary, Ms Sophia Ch’ng, Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK).
Get ahead with this 3-month intensive hands-on course designed to prepare actuarial students to be employment-ready. It incorporates feedback from our practicing actuaries and industry practitioners in the course design. This course is conducted by our in-house actuary - Ms Sophia Ch’ng, focusing on current topics in the insurance industry.
In addition to the standard university subjects and assignments, students have the option to enrol in this course, offered exclusively to Sunway University’s actuarial students without additional charges.

Actuarial Analytics Course (AAC)
AAC is a hands-on course conducted by our in-house actuary, Mr. Nicholas Cheong, the Fellow of the IFoA. It is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice and equips our students with the skills needed to meet industry demands and kick-start their actuarial careers seamlessly. Through real-world case studies, students use Excel to perform data checks, analyse data patterns, build flexible models that adapt to parameter changes, calculate key statistics and automate and optimize tasks using Macro VBA
