Professor Goh Bey Hing
Professor Ts Dr Goh Bey Hing's research centers on exploration of the biofunctionality of molecules and pharmacology. With a prolific record of 200+ publications, his research encompasses fundamental studies as well as collaborations with industries and healthcare sectors. Notably, he holds the distinction of being the first Malaysian on The Advisory Board of The International Natural Product Sciences Taskforce (INPST). Additionally, he is esteemed as a Chartered Biologist by the Royal Society of Biology, United Kingdom, and has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Young Malaysians by Junior Chamber International & Top Research Scientists Malaysia by Academy Sciences Malaysia, recognizing his significant contributions to research, education, and community.
Dr Alan Tan Sang Loon
Dr Tan Sang Loon graduated with a PhD degree on the synthesis, characterisation, cytotoxicity and structure-activity relationship of chiral Schiff bases, derived from dithiocarbazates and their metal complexes. He acquired considerable knowledge and experience in several subject areas while conducting his studies, including organic and inorganic synthesis, coordination chemistry, chiral chemistry, spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, computational quantum chemistry, quantitative structure-activity relationship as well as basic cell culture technique. Upon graduation, he gained greater exposure through continuous study in the computational quantum chemistry of dithiocarbazate Schiff bases and their metal complexes, as well as through other exploratory research projects by applying those compounds as homogeneous catalyst and potential anti dengue viral agents. Currently, his research focus is converged on the design of new functional materials through metal-organic frameworks as well as the improvement of drug bioavailability via the cocrystallisation approach.
- Senior Research Fellow
Dr Tan Yee Seng
Dr Tan Yee Seng obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Chemistry from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in 2010. He then joined University of Malaya for a year as Research Assistant under the mentorship of Professor Edward Tiekink. Following that, he enrolled as a postgraduate student and was awarded a PhD degree in 2016. During his postgraduate study, Dr Tan was nominated as one of the Malaysian representatives to participate in the 7th HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates held in Tokyo, Japan in 2015 and was recognized as a HOPE Meeting fellow.
He has been with Sunway University as Research Fellow in the Research Centre for Crystalline Materials since November 2015. His research focuses on the crystal engineering for dithiolate coordination compound and coordination polymer. Over and above, his research interest is also directed towards the serendipitous encounter of crystal transformations.
- Post Doctoral Research Fellow
Dr Tan Ee Wern
Dr Tan Ee Wern obtained her PhD in Biology from Sunway University in 2024. Her research expertise lies in drug discovery, molecular oncology and cancer biology, with a strong interest in developing targeted therapeutic strategies for chemo-resistant cancers. Her current research focuses on the use of adenoviral vectors to drive tumour suppressor gene expression, aiming to improve the efficacy of combination cancer treatments.
- Research Fellow
Dr Wong Pei Lou
Dr. Wong Pei Lou holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where her research centered on the metabolomics-based chemical profiling of medicinal plants for antidiabetic applications. She further advanced this line of research on natural product innovation for antidiabetic therapies during her postdoctoral tenure at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her core expertise lies in metabolomics, natural product pharmacology, and functional food research, leveraging advanced analytical platforms. Her current research interests include bioactive metabolite identification, phytochemical fingerprinting, and multivariate data analysis for biomarker discovery, targeting metabolic disease intervention to drive translational outcomes in nutraceutical and therapeutic development.
