Biography
Susila Madasamy is Senior Lecturer at the English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) unit in Sunway University. She has a Bachelor of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and a Master in Arts (Applied Linguistics). With 21 years of teaching experience, she has taught Literature, Thinking Skills, English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes, preparatory course for International Student Aptitude Test (ISAT), Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TOEFL) as well as International English Language Testing System (IELTS) preparatory courses. She has also previously worked as a teacher trainer for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the London Teacher Training College. Currently, she teaches ESAP to Psychology and Medical Biotechnology undergraduates. Her research interest is in the area of English Language Teaching Methodology. She seeks ways to incorporate methodologies which focus on the use of literary texts, inquiry-based learning and simulated learning environment to increase student engagement, student autonomy and critical thinking.
