Tan Lay Hong teaches the Intensive English Programme at the Centre for English Language Studies, Sunway University. She also integrates English language learning materials with the language learning software of the Sunway Multimedia Integrated Language Environment. She was one of the recipients for the Student Appreciation of Teaching Award in the academic year 2015–2016. Before joining Sunway University, she taught English for Business Communication and Academic Purposes in China for two years.
