Exploring AI's Role in Teaching and Learning: Sunway University Partners with Noodle Factory
Petaling Jaya, 30 October 2026 – Sunway University, Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s leading non-government-linked private university, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Noodle Factory Pte. Ltd., an education technology company that provides an AI-powered teaching assistant platform. The collaboration will explore how AI can support teaching, learning and assessment while keeping educators involved in the learning process.
Noodle Factory's AI-powered teaching assistant platform, Walter, enables educators to design personalised learning experiences using their own course content. Through guided tutoring, interactive simulations and formative assessment, Walter encourages learners to think critically, apply knowledge and reflect on their understanding. This provides a foundation for the two parties to explore how AI can enhance teaching and learning at scale while preserving educator oversight and educational quality.
Under the MoU, Sunway University and Noodle Factory will explore pilot projects and collaborative research on AI-supported teaching and learning, including assessment innovation and the evaluation of learning tools. The collaboration also includes the proposed co-development of a micro-credential, with Sunway University retaining academic oversight and ownership and Noodle Factory serving as the technology and industry partner.
The parties will document insights from pilot activities to inform academic practice, research and quality assurance. Through this work, the collaboration will examine both the potential of AI in education and the considerations involved in integrating these tools into teaching and assessment.
