Freshman Fiesta: Beatwave Bash
To kick off the new academic year, the Sunway University Student Council (SUSC) hosted Freshman Fiesta 1.0 on 30th January, welcoming over 148 freshmen from Malaysia and abroad. The event, themed "Beatwave Bash," transformed the campus into a musical celebration, providing a lively space for students to connect. The fiesta aimed to ease the transition into university life by helping freshmen break the ice, build supportive networks, and form lasting friendships before the academic semester officially begins.
The celebration began with a spread of food and refreshments, allowing students to settle in and fuel up for the day’s activities. Music and dancing followed, encouraging interaction and bonding. This celebratory start set the tone for an inclusive environment where students from diverse nationalities and backgrounds could engage in cross-cultural exchange and mutual appreciation.
The heart of the fiesta centered on a series of interactive challenges and ice-breaking sessions designed to foster teamwork and laughter. To ensure a balance of structured fun and free exploration, there were several exciting booths for them to participate in, ranging from the strategic Cup Stacking and Memory Card to the hilarious rounds of Charades, One Word Imposter, and Poison Candy. Not forgetting our event sponsor who joined us at Booth 6: Bomb Battle, giving students the ultimate high-adrenaline experience with a gel blaster paintball game. This high-energy addition proved to be a massive hit, providing an unforgettable bonding experience for the new intake.
The event concluded on a high note as all attendees gathered for a group photo to commemorate the start of their journey at Sunway University.Closing remarks were delivered by the Emcee, followed by expressions of thanks to participants and sponsors. Students left with tokens of appreciation and door gifts. Freshman Fiesta 1.0 was more than a welcome party, it marked a memorable first chapter that helped new freshmen feel at home in the Sunway community.
