Sunway Business School Embassy Series: Embassy of the State of Libya in Malaysia
An enriching and inspiring learning experience for our students during their visit to the Embassy of the State of Libya in Malaysia.
We were deeply honoured to meet His Excellency Mohamed A. M. Attia, Ambassador of the State of Libya to Malaysia, who shared valuable insights into the diplomatic profession, including the selection of diplomats, the process of appointing ambassadors, the educational background and knowledge required, and the challenges faced throughout a diplomatic career.
His Excellency expressed his happiness at seeing the younger generation actively involved in the SBS Embassy Series. He spoke about the importance of nurturing young diplomats and encouraged students to develop the knowledge, confidence, communication skills and global awareness needed to become future leaders and representatives of their communities and countries.
His Excellency also highlighted the similarities between Malaysia and Libya, particularly their shared cultural values, warm hospitality, strong community relationships and emphasis on education. These common values provide a meaningful foundation for strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between both countries.
During the session, His Excellency encouraged students to build meaningful connections both within and beyond the university. He emphasised that developing strong internal and external networks can create valuable opportunities for personal growth, career development and international engagement.
Students were also encouraged to learn additional languages to strengthen their communication skills and their ability to engage confidently with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The interactive dialogue provided our students and staff with valuable exposure to diplomacy, international relations, global engagement and career development. It also offered a deeper understanding of the qualities, responsibilities and commitment required to represent a country internationally.
Our sincere appreciation goes to His Excellency Mohamed A. M. Attia for his valuable insights and guidance, and to Dr Aiman Elmahmodi, Ms Nor Atiqah Zali and Ms Yang Arnieda Azaman for their warm hospitality and support in facilitating this meaningful meeting.
We look forward to strengthening future collaborations between Sunway University and the Embassy of the State of Libya in Malaysia and creating more opportunities for our students to engage with global leaders, build international connections and broaden their perspectives.
